High School Musical: Review
Recently, I watched High School Musical, a movie teens have been raving about recently. People are especially willing to buy their Soundtrack! I open the TV, and BAM! I see "High School Musical Soundtrack" listed as 1#. Hey, since everyone seems to think that their music is good, then why don't I watch it?
Luckily enough, it showed up on TV a week later. Yes, people, it's a made-for-TV movie. Yes, I am reviewing a made-for-TV movie! So what? I haven't gotten a chance to hit the theaters lately.
This movie, I have to admit, was pretty darn entertaining. I thought I would roll my eyes at all the typical teenage "drama" and cliques and everything, but it left me interested and amused. The music was catchy and up-beat, I even downloaded a couple of the songs *guilt*. The plot is alright. I didn't expect any complex absolutely-mind-blowing type of thing. Nah, I didn't expect much from Disney for this movie. It's kind of typical, over-done, cliche, but not as bad as I've seen some movies try painstakingly hard to make it work.
It wasn't really supposed to be funny, it was supposed to be more of "awww", but I couldn't help but laugh at a couple of scenes. Some of the scenes were really corny, I almost choked on the popcorn that I was eating. Other times I felt really bored, and kind of "ho-hum" and sleepy. During the singing, I was really entertained. Some of these singers aren't half-bad, they're actually quite good. I loved how everyone was envolved in the singing, and the dancing! Well, of course, it's a musical, so could I expect any less?
Overall: If you like upbeat singing and dancing, I recommend this one. If you like typical high-school movies minus the drinking and junk, I also recommend this. And as a third recommendation, this should mainly be viewed by happy, energetic, enthusiastic people.
Total: 8/10 stars. What could I say? The singing and dancing blew me away.
